Description

Tetrazine-biotin is used in bioorthogonal chemistry strategies, particularly in conjunction with trans-cyclooctene (TCO)-modified biomolecules. The tetrazine ligation reaction with TCO is highly specific and bioorthogonal, allowing for site-specific conjugation of biotin to proteins, peptides, or other biomolecules in complex biological environments. Tetrazine is a small heterocyclic molecule containing a 1,2,4,5-tetrazine core. Tetrazines are highly reactive towards strained alkenes or alkynes, undergoing rapid and selective cycloaddition reactions (known as inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder reactions) under physiological conditions.
