Description

Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) biotinylated is a modified form of the thyroid peroxidase enzyme where biotin molecules have been covalently attached. Thyroid peroxidase is an enzyme primarily expressed in thyroid follicular cells. It plays a crucial role in the synthesis of thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) by catalyzing the iodination of thyroglobulin and the coupling of iodotyrosine residues to form thyroid hormones. Biotinylated TPO is used in diagnostic assays (e.g., ELISA, Western blotting) for the detection of antibodies against TPO in patient serum. Elevated levels of these antibodies are indicative of autoimmune thyroid diseases.
