Description

Topotecan is a DNA topoisomerase I inhibitor and a semisynthetic analog of Camptothecin. It works by inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase I, which is involved in DNA replication and transcription. By inhibiting this enzyme, topotecan prevents the unwinding of DNA, ultimately leading to cell death, particularly in rapidly dividing cancer cells.
