UiO-66-CH2N3 is a chemically modified version of the UiO-66 metal-organic framework (MOF), featuring azide (N3) groups attached to its structure. UiO-66 is a well-known MOF constructed from zirconium (Zr) clusters linked by terephthalic acid (BDC) ligands. It is celebrated for its high stability, large surface area, and tunable properties. UiO-66-CH2N3 is a versatile platform for click chemistry reactions. The azide groups can participate in Huisgen cycloaddition reactions with alkynes, facilitating the attachment of various functional groups to the MOF. In addition, the azide-functionalized MOF can be used as a catalyst or support for various chemical reactions. The reactive azide groups can enhance catalytic processes or stabilize catalytic sites within the framework.
