Description

Vinylsulfone-PEG-Biotin (VS-PEG-Biotin) combines three main components, vinylsulfone, PEG and biotin. Vinylsulfone is a chemical group that contains a vinyl (CH2=CH-) group attached to a sulfone (SO2) group. It is known for its ability to react specifically with thiol (sulfhydryl) groups (-SH) in proteins. Vinylsulfone compounds are used to selectively modify and label proteins containing cysteine residues. Biotin serves as a molecular tag that allows researchers to attach it to molecules of interest, such as proteins or nucleic acids. Once biotin-labeled, these molecules can be easily captured and detected using avidin or streptavidin-based techniques.
