Description

4,4′-(1,2-Diphenylethene-1,2-diyl)diphenol (TPE-DOH) combines a central biphenyl unit with a double bond and two phenol groups. The presence of the double bond and phenol groups suggests that this compound have interesting chemical reactivity and could be used as a building block for the synthesis of more complex organic molecules. It is a synthetic intermediate of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) dye for use in further synthesis of alkyl-halogen to make ether and polymer reaction via esterification.
