Description

Amine-Liposome are liposomes that incorporate amine-containing molecules into their lipid bilayer or aqueous core. The amine groups present in the liposome can be used for further functionalization. They can react with various chemical moieties, such as carboxylic acids, NHS esters, or maleimides, allowing for the conjugation of targeting ligands, imaging agents, or therapeutic molecules onto the liposome surface. Amine-liposomes are commonly used as vectors for gene delivery. Cationic lipids containing amine groups can interact with negatively charged nucleic acids (e.g., DNA or RNA) to form stable complexes, or lipoplexes, which can protect the nucleic acids from degradation and facilitate their cellular uptake.
