Poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) has been extensively investigated for biomedical applications, particularly in gene delivery and drug delivery systems. As a cationic polymer, it can complex with negatively charged nucleic acids (e.g., DNA or siRNA) through electrostatic interactions, forming nanoparticles or polyplexes that protect the cargo and facilitate cellular uptake. Additionally, the pH-responsive behavior of PDMAEMA can be exploited to enhance the intracellular release of therapeutic payloads.
